With A Little Help From Our Friends

Behind the scenes at the Nordic Center, the board is still meeting, planning, upgrading and maintaining. We anticipate the day when we can open our doors to the community.  Meanwhile we tackled one of the items on the wishlist—a display rack for brochures and flyers.  After spending way too many hours searching the web for an appropriate and affordable rack, an “aha” moment occurred.  Why not reconstruct an old magazine rack which was unused and hanging around the storage area?

And now begins the best part of this transformation tale.  The display rack needed enhancement.  Fortunately for us, Tara Austin, a very gifted young artist willingly volunteered to use her rosemaling skills on this piece.  Wow!  From the ugly duckling to a spectacularly beautiful masterpiece.  THANK YOU!

The Nordic Center is very proud that Tara Austin is one of our distinguished Advisory Board Members.  Her work has been shown at the Joseph Nease Gallery and the Duluth Art Institute among many others.  Find out more about this extremely talented artist at taralynnaustin.com.
