Arts and Cultural Events Coordinator

We are a growing non-profit organization that offers a self-motivated employee the opportunity to work closely with an engaged and active board, to connect with creative and multi-talented artists and educators, and to expand and broaden our constituency base.

The Nordic Center was founded in 2012. Our mission is to share Nordic culture with the greater community through social, educational, and arts programs. We promote an accessible venue for local, regional, national and global artists of all disciplines to further their pursuits and exhibit or perform their respective art forms through Nordic related inspired bodies of work. We are continually seeking unique ideas for exhibits, performances and lectures. While the current pandemic has forced changes to the way we normally operate, the ability to provide virtual programs and events has allowed us to successfully accomplish our mission.

The Arts and Cultural Events Coordinator is a part-time position with flexible hours at $15.00 per hour without benefits.

Requirements: You are a marketing professional with relevant skills and experience related to duties and responsibilities outlined below.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plans for and executes event promotions including PR planning, printing, coordinating event communications, and updating website calendar.
  2. Maintains mailing lists including NC’s Mailchimp contacts, membership and general contacts lists, business associates and advisory contacts.
  3. Enters and tabulates data from feedback forms, program attendance sheets and In-kind/donations forms.
  4. Communicates PR progress and event summaries to the board.
  5. Coordinates the work of contract professionals such as exhibiting artists, graphic designers, videographers.
  6. Welcomes visitors during open hours, at exhibitions and other cultural events.

The Nordic Center is based in Duluth, Minnesota in the heart of the downtown and within walking distance of Lake Superior. Public transportation is easily accessible.
